Preview of what you’ll see at the upcoming TAS TATE/ALEA conference

@Natbott42 prepares for our conference on the 13th April. He will be in Cambodia on World Challenge. This video will be part of his presentation. Harry_Mess will be chatting  with him through the video this is their script:

H: Hello Nathaniel!

N: Hello Harry, and hello everyone!

H: How are you today Nathaniel? Are you feeling well? Are you enjoy-

N: I’m gonna have to stop you there Harry; I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, I’m not here. I’m away in Vietnam and Cambodia, approximately…. Here!

H: Awesome Nathaniel, so what’ve you been working on regarding Minecraft?

N: Well, as a leader of our class, I have been working to broaden the student’s online identities as well as improve the subject from the standpoint of the literacy. Drawing from various educational experiences such as an online course in gamification and a year of running the class, I have been working to create a system to encourage students to build upon their literacy skills in the online environment. This system uses extrinsic rewards to motivate the students to report and reflect on their work in the form of written pieces, videos and pictures. The rewards come in the form of powers in game which are spread between ranks that the students level up through as they complete work. For example, here is our table of levels (show google doc)

H: That’s awesome Nathaniel, thanks for taking time out of your hiking to talk to us today!

N: Again Harry, I’m not actually talking to you. This is pre-recorded.
