Wonders of the World Project
With my favourite fonts Franklin Gothic Demi Cond and Segoe UI (Ringing endorsement), I will begin this project.
This project started last year, in Minecraft 1st half, when Overkill785 and we decided with no real thinking that this would be our project. It may have been slightly too big task for a 6 month course, but oh well. This project was, replicating the 7 Ancient Wonders and 7 New Wonders of the world + Some relevant extras in Minecraft. And we also wanted to do them as close to 1:1 scale as we could. THAT was the hard part. We had 16 things we wanted to make. Only 8 or so have been made yet. Yeah.
We worked on them after our half was finished because we felt this was a personal project more than a school one. We were actually interested in what we were doing.
So anyway, come 2013, we’re both doing Minecraft but in different halves this year. We are continuing the project from where we left off with Overkill785 re-joining the project later. And with any luck, we’ll finish it this year, which will kinda be our last chance.
I waited until the server was updated to 1.5 because most wonders incorporate marble. We have something similar. Quartz, which looks pretty much like marble will be our most useful block. Before that I just did Pokémon (Hooray for using the accented e) pixel art. That’s done now, but this is gonna be better.
At this point I’ll be doing updates like this maybe slightly usually? Yeah…
The wonders are (Finished ones underlined):
- Great Pyramid of Giza (I’ll call this Khufu from now on because that’s an annoyingly long name)
- Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
- Temple of Artemis
- Lighthouse of Alexandria
- Colossus of Rhodes
- Hanging Gardens of Babylon
- Statue of Zeus
- Chichen Itza
- Machu Picchu
- Cristo Redentor
- Taj Mahal
- Great Wall of China
- Ishtar Gate
Was considered the 7th Wonder until the Lighthouse of Alexandria took its place
Was built in tandem with Khufu
